The fastest growing job opportunity over seas is Teaching English as a Second Language. Thus, TESL is a great way to get to the mission field for a summer, a year or two, get paid, and help fulfill the Great Commission. Take the challenge, 2 for 2. In 2 years, make 2 disciples who will in turn do the same and in 30.5 years we can reach the whole world. christiantesl.com provides all the equipment you need to get started. First, check out the TESL Jobs in a Page for information on how to get a job, requirements, and salary ranges by region.
Go into all the world... and have fun!

I'm a Christian who is thinking about teaching overseas. I've been looking at a few organizations that will help me get connected with schools and churches. I've also considered going on my own and doing my own thing. Any advice would be much appreciated.

I would advise downloading our free ESL Missions eHandbook, Missions Possible. If you cannot get your local church to send and cover you spiritually, then I would recommend going with ESI, or another Missions Organization listed in Missions Organizations on the home page.

Which country are you thinking of working in? I am in Korea, where education is seen unfortunatly as a God and saviour of the country. I would advise you to get settled with a good church that speaks a lot in English or else you my find yourself lacking the norishment that comes from good fellowship. I have created a webpage Living God where I'm able to think through the things that our lord is teaching me. It helps me to jot things down because I need to first think and pray through things.
In Him, Jonathan

I have a question in regards to your post. I feel I have a call to use my English teaching ability in an unreached, 10/40 Window country. I am currently teaching in South Korea, which is not a 10/40 Window country or where I believe God wants me long term. My only problem in looking for English teaching jobs is that the only places that seem to pay decent are not in the 10/40 Window. Someday, I could probably just do it as mission work. But, for now, I need to make some money. Any ideas for where I could teach.
Thanks, Jeff jrs1040@yahoo.com

Jeff,
Great desire to teach in the 10/40! Taiwan has a low percentage of Christians and pays very well. They are Chinese. You could work there and learn Chinese until you save up enough money to work in China. They are in the 10/40 window.
